The State Bank of Morristown was founded in 1928. Its predecessor bank, Farmers State Bank, had closed its doors earlier in the year. Several prominent citizens of Morristown traveled to Northfield to discuss a new bank with attorney and banker, W.W. Pye.
After much discussion, it was agreed that a new bank would be opened. It was chartered in the name of the State Bank of Morristown.
The Bank has remained in the Pye family ever since, now owned by a third generation and namesake of the founder. William W. Pye.
One characteristic of W.W. Pye's bank was their financial soundness. During the depression, Morristown was one of a handful of banks in the state that did not declare a "Bank Holiday." The same principle continues today, insuring extraordinary service to our customers and community.
In 2002 the bank changed its name to Lake Country Community Bank to reflect the expanding market of the bank. The staff, and ownership, remains the same.
